If you're Barnes & Noble, still playing catchup Amazon in the online bookselling space, how do you juice your fourth quarter sales? By buying Google text ads for Book of Ages 30. How good a job did B&N do writing their ad? Let's compare it againt the advice of self-professed Google AdWords expert Andrew Goodman:1) AG: "Employ spicy but not hypey calls to action such as 'download.'" B&N: "hot"; "buy"; "Order today." Check. 2) AG: "Mention a free trial or some other way of saving money." B&N: No free trial offered, though presumably consumer could purchase book, then return it. Strike. 3) AG: "Target the ad more closely to the exact query." B&N: Ad comes up for search result for "Book of Ages 30." Check. Well, two outta three ain't bad.
